Fresh local food, many organic stalls
Whitstable Farmers Market started regular markets in February 2007 in the heart of Whitstable. The market aims to have mostly organic produce stalls, and all stalls are from closer than 30 miles from Whitstable.
The market has 3 purposes:
- Bring fresh local organic food to Whitstable from the surrounding countryside
- Support local farmers
- Reduce food miles
Local Food
Whitstable Farmers Market supports all local shops and shops and restaurants that supply food that has been grown or prepared locally. You can find where to buy local food in the local food directory.
We are members of Kent Farmers Market Association, and comply with their guidelines, as well as those laid out by FARMA. These rules make sure that a Farmers' Market really is a Farmers Market, because the stallholders are selling their own produce that is from the local area.
Whitstable Farmers Market tries wherever possible to have stalls selling organic produce. This is because we believe it tastes better, its better for the environment and British organic standards are the highest animal welfare standards in Europe. See our Environmental Policy.
